Phil Gramm was right; we have become a nation of whiners

Published by csc5502 at 5:51 pm under Politics Edit This

Phil Gramm got into a lot of trouble when he said “[w]e have sort of become a nation of whiners.”  The problem is, he was right.

Some Americans never stop whining.  That’s how Obama got elected.  He catered to whiners.

If you’re gay, straight people are to blame for everything wrong in your life.  If you’re poor, rich people are to blame.  If you’re black, white people are to blame.  If you’re a woman, men are to blame.  If you’re Latino, you get to blame whites, blacks and rich people.  If you’re Muslim, everybody not a Muslim is to blame.  If you’re an atheist, Christians (but not Muslims) are to blame.

The best thing to be in this country right now is a poor, mixed-race (black and latino), lesbian Muslim with Wiccan tendencies.  You can sue everyone for everything.

Nothing is ever your fault or your responsibility.  Pregnancy isn’t even your problem if you’re a woman.  If some evil man “gets you pregnant,” you can have an abortion.  If you decide to “punish” (Obama’s own word for it) yourself with a baby, you can make that evil man pay child support for 18 years and maybe even college.  He gets no say, but you get all the choice and maybe his money too.  You can even go on welfare, and he gets to pay for that too.  It’s not your problem you had unprotected sex; it’s his fault because “he should have kept it in his pants.”

This is the heart of Obama’s appeal to the masses.  You whine, and he promises to punish all the people and institutions you whine about.  Even better, he promises to compensate you for your “pain” by robbing those people and institutions blind and giving their money (minus a hefty finder’s fee for the government) to you.

We have become a nation of whiners.

The problem is that whiners get to vote too.
