Dianne Feinstein wants solar and wind power, just not in the sunny and windy desert.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, long an advocate of “alternative” energy, wants to ban the production of wind and solar power from the place most likely to produce it, the desert.

From The Los Angeles Times:

“In a move that could pit usual allies — environmentalists and the solar and wind industries — against each other, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) is preparing legislation that would permanently put hundreds of thousands of acres of desert land off limits to energy projects.”

This is nothing new to Ms. Feinstein.  In 1994 she pushed through the California Desert Protection Act, which put huge portions of the California desert under the National Park system.  The purpose of this was to preserve the deserts “resources” for future generations by restricting those generations’ access to the desert as much as possible, except for Indians.  Indians have a specific exception which actually requires closure of portions of the desert to anyone not an Indian “to protect the privacy of traditional cultural and religious activities.”

The fun part of this from an observer’s perspective is that it once again pits rabid liberal groups against each other, thus exposing their extreme radicalism.  One need only look at similar issues for a good laugh, such as the unionized oil workers being ignored when it comes to drilling in ANWR.  In fact, not only did the EcoNazis ignore their own union supporters, they also ignored the will of the native people in Alaska (whom they usually champion on every other issue) because those people wanted the drilling too.  It’s kind of like how they quote the Pope when it comes to condemning the war in Iraq, then turn around and call the Pope all sorts of unprintable names because he also speaks out against homosexual marriage, abortion, and condoms in schools.

They’re doing it again.  Comrade Obama can’t shut up about “alternative” energy, but the very best places to put these projects up are always somehow more important as environmental causes.  Hydroelectric dams?  Sorry, hurts the salmon runs.  Wind farms off the Atlantic coast and in mountain passes?  Sorry, hurts birds, and probably migratory birds, which as we all know are the most hard hit of all birds when it comes to anything.  Tidal energy?  Hurts the sea life.  Now we can’t put solar and wind projects up in the DESERT because it’ll hurt the cacti, bugs, snakes, dirt, etc.?

The EcoNazis are so insane about Mother Earth that they will even throw wind and solar under the bus to protect her.  If you heard an EcoNazi ranting away about the harm some new power plant would do to the environment, you would assume coal, oil or even “gasp” nuclear, wouldn’t you?  Not this time.  This time the evil, Earth-destroying polluters would be…wind and solar.

If this doesn’t show you who you are really dealing with, then nothing will.

EcoNazis put “Earth first” and you second, or last, or most likely…..never.
